Revel in the rich and complex history of Ballarat and experience the past in a contemporary way, join us as we create our own history.  The event highlights our UNESCO City of Craft and Folk art providing a unique look at the city’s rare trades and craft skills, the incredible architecture, streetscapes and buildings Ballarat is famous for and the people behind them.    

Take a walk through the streets of Ballarat or around Lake Wendouree and experience our City through audio tours, storytelling by film, augmented reality, talks, tours, craft and rare trade demonstrations and event offerings.  

Experience Ballarat Nostalgia, bringing back memories from when you were a kid, or capture the perfect photo at contemporary history selfie installations. All this exploring will make you hungry and thirsty so be sure to visit a local venue across town and indulge in Ballarat’s delicious food scene.

Ballarat Heritage Festival has worked with various event hosts and Wadawurrung and Dja Dja Wurrung People to bring various first nations offering to events across the festival. The festival will be opened with a Welcome to Country.

We are working closely with the Victorian Government and the Department of Health to deliver a COVID-Safe event for everyone.

At ticketed venues, the events host will be doing timed or staggered entry and managing capacities; implementing contact tracing protocols; installing sanitiser stations and physical-distancing floor marker as required.
