Adding to the vibrancy and fun of the Ballarat Heritage Festival is the opportunity to experience and relive the games, songs, dances and old time storytelling alongside the performing arts students from the BCMA (Ballarat Centre of Music and the Arts).
Dances such as the Virginia Reel and the Heel-toe polka take mere minutes to learn but are incredible fun to do. Throw in a do-si-do, a cup and ball game, hopscotch, quoites and your day will be complete. Watch out for Lola Montez presenting her infamous Spider dance in the streets, but be ready to avert your children’s eyes.
The BCMA performers will present an array of entertainment in the streets and venues throughout each day of the festival to enhance the whole experience of reliving the 1800’s as you stroll amongst the architecture and history of beautiful Ballarat.
