Television host and reporter Peter Gamble was involved in making stories for early BTV Television shows around 1973/74 for BTV Juniors in Ballarat. When Peter passed in 2005, he left a collection of his raw 16mm film to his sister Susie. Susie was introduced to Rex by BTV On Air newsreader Craig Campbell.
The material consists of multiple 16mm reels and has arrived back in Ballarat and has been digitised by H Squared Studios at Ballarat Trades Hall, so the family can see Peter’s legacy and celebrate it with the local community.
The final resting place for the material is to be NFSA in Canberra.
Crowd-funding during test screenings has allowed the work to be digitised – a time capsule of a time long gone in Ballarat (and Melbourne).
